Florida Panthers forwards Aleksander Barkov and Anton Lundell have won gold medals at the 2026 IIHF World Championship following Finland's 1-0 overtime victory against Switzerland. Lundell assisted on the decisive goal, while Barkov was named to the tournament
All-Star Team. Barkov, serving as Finland's captain, led his team with 11 points throughout the tournament. This victory marks Barkov's second medal at the IIHF World Championship, having previously won silver in 2016. Lundell also adds to his medal collection, having previously won silver in 2021. Five Panthers players participated in the championship, each scoring at least two goals. Matthew Tkachuk represented the United States, scoring seven points, while Marek Alscher and Sandis Vilmanis played for Czechia and Latvia, respectively.
