What's Happening?
The Americas Apparel Producers’ Network (AAPN) has launched a new Certificate in Foundations of Textile Manufacturing, aimed at enhancing manufacturing literacy among professionals in the apparel and textile
supply chains. This competency-based credential is designed to provide early-career professionals and cross-functional teams with practical, real-world insights into textile manufacturing processes. The certificate program includes foundational knowledge in areas such as cotton and synthetic fiber spinning, thread manufacturing, weaving, knitting, and dyeing and finishing. It is intended to improve communication, decision-making, and collaboration between brands, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of this certificate program addresses a critical need for enhanced manufacturing literacy in the textile and apparel industries. As the industry evolves, there is a growing demand for professionals who possess a comprehensive understanding of textile production processes. This program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of the supply chain, thereby supporting the long-term success of industry leaders. By fostering a deeper understanding of textile manufacturing, the program also seeks to strengthen partnerships across the supply chain, ultimately contributing to more efficient and effective operations.
What's Next?
The Certificate in Foundations of Textile Manufacturing is offered in conjunction with the AAPN Carolina Mill Tour, scheduled for March 23-26, 2026. Registration for the tour is open to brands and retailers, with a deadline of February 26, 2026, or until all slots are filled. This initiative provides participants with hands-on experience in real mill environments, further enhancing their understanding of textile manufacturing processes. As the program gains traction, it is expected to attract more participants from various sectors of the textile and apparel industries, thereby broadening its impact.
