What's Happening?
The biennial Women’s VOICES theater project recently took place at the Thunder River Theater in Carbondale, showcasing a series of performances that delve into the complexities of womanhood. The event
featured stories that explored both the challenging and tender aspects of being a woman. Notable performances included Nina Gabianelli's monologue about unexpectedly taking on a motherly role for her own mother, and Ashley Stahl's narrative on navigating motherhood as a transgender woman. The project provided a platform for women to share personal stories, with first-time performers like Nuni Zeeni overcoming fears to participate. The performances were crafted over months of workshopping, allowing participants to express their journeys and connect with audiences on a deep emotional level.
Why It's Important?
The Women’s VOICES project is significant as it provides a platform for women to share their diverse experiences and challenges, fostering understanding and empathy.
