UC Santa Barbara is set to join the West Coast Conference (WCC) for the 2027-28 season, increasing the league's membership to 12 teams. The decision was approved by the WCC Presidents' Council, following recent additions of Denver and UC San Diego. Denver will
begin play in the league next season, with UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego joining the following year. This expansion comes as Gonzaga, a WCC powerhouse, plans to leave the conference to join the Pac-12. UC Santa Barbara will compete in 13 sports, including men's and women's basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and more.
