Mantis Space has announced a partnership with Atomic-6 to develop an orbital energy infrastructure designed to provide continuous power to satellites. The collaboration will see Atomic-6 supplying its
Light Wing solar arrays and Hot Wing radiators to Mantis Space's platform, which aims to create a constellation of spacecraft that remain in sunlight to transmit power to satellites in eclipse. This initiative is intended to extend the operational life of satellites by providing power during periods when they are in the Earth's shadow, a time when they typically rely on battery power. Eric Truitt, CEO of Mantis Space, explained that this infrastructure is akin to a power grid for space, potentially increasing the mission time and operational life of satellites.
