What's Happening?
The Museum Association of East Muskingum, in collaboration with the Muskingum Valley Park District, is organizing the Carol Campbell Nature Camp on June 15-16 at the National Road & Zane Grey Museum in Norwich.
This educational camp is designed for students aged 9-12 and will focus on local mammals. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, with students aged 9-10 attending on June 15 and those aged 11-12 on June 16. Participants will engage in activities both indoors and outdoors, exploring the museum grounds to learn about mammal habitats. The camp fee is $20 per student, which includes lunch and an educational book. Registration is required due to limited space.
Why It's Important?
This initiative provides an opportunity for young students to engage with nature and learn about local wildlife, fostering an appreciation for the environment. By focusing on mammals native to the area, the camp aims to educate children about biodiversity and conservation. Such programs are crucial in promoting environmental awareness and stewardship among the younger generation, potentially inspiring future careers in environmental science and conservation. Additionally, the camp supports local cultural institutions by bringing attention to the museum and park district, enhancing community engagement and support for local educational resources.
