The Words Across Europe program, a virtual reality-based writers' room initiative, has announced its 2026 cohort. This program, co-funded by the European Union's Creative Europe Media and Dublin-based
Wide Eye Films, aims to foster creative collaboration among European writers. Nine writers from various European countries have been selected from over 60 applicants to participate in this third edition. The program runs from May to July, during which participants will develop original series concepts in immersive VR writers' rooms. These sessions will include masterclasses, talks, and networking events with industry experts. At the end of the program, participants will pitch their work to European TV producers and commissioners. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between European and U.S. writing practices, as European writers typically work solo, while American writers often collaborate in writers' rooms.
