What's Happening?
Accountaneur Advisory has introduced the Tax Survival Season Index (TSSI), a new survey designed to measure the human cost of tax season on professionals. The index evaluates factors such as sleep loss, health impacts, relationship strains, and stress
levels experienced by tax professionals during the busy season. The survey aims to provide insights into the personal toll of tax season, which is often overlooked in favor of financial metrics like realization rates and revenue per partner. The TSSI will be published annually each May, offering a comprehensive view of the challenges faced by those in the tax profession.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the TSSI highlights the often-neglected personal impacts of tax season on professionals. By quantifying these effects, the index aims to bring attention to the need for better work-life balance and mental health support within the industry. This initiative could lead to changes in how firms approach employee well-being, potentially influencing policies on workload management and support systems. As the tax profession continues to evolve, understanding and addressing the human cost of tax season could improve job satisfaction and retention rates, ultimately benefiting both employees and employers.
