What's Happening?
Kary DeVlieger, the owner of The Dog House in Marshall, has successfully expanded her business by opening a self-service dog wash station called The Dog Wash. Located at 204 Mustang Trail, this new venture offers pet owners a convenient way to wash their
dogs. DeVlieger, who took over The Dog House at the age of 19, has made several improvements to the facility, including adding more kennels and remodeling the grooming area. The self-service dog wash, which opened on June 4, features an electronic selection panel and a spray hose, similar to a car wash setup. The business has seen a higher than expected turnout, with seven to ten customers daily.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of The Dog House with a self-service dog wash highlights the growing demand for pet care services in local communities. This development not only provides a new service for pet owners in Marshall but also reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of young business owners like DeVlieger. The success of such ventures can stimulate local economies by creating jobs and encouraging other small business initiatives. Additionally, it underscores the increasing trend of pet owners seeking convenient and affordable solutions for pet care, which could lead to more innovations in the pet services industry.
What's Next?
While DeVlieger has no immediate plans for further expansion, her success at a young age suggests potential for future business ventures. The positive reception of the self-service dog wash could inspire similar businesses in other communities, potentially leading to a network of pet care services. As the business continues to grow, DeVlieger may explore additional services or locations, further solidifying her presence in the pet care market.
