What's Happening?
Kalamazoo Resources has commenced a significant drilling program at its Ashburton Gold Project located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The initiative involves approximately 14,000 meters of drilling at the Mt Olympus Deposit, utilizing both
reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling techniques. This effort is aimed at enhancing the geological confidence in the resource model at Mt Olympus and advancing ongoing mining and pre-feasibility studies. The Ashburton Gold Project currently boasts mineral resources of about 16.2 million tonnes at a grade of 2.8 grams per tonne of gold, equating to around 1.44 million ounces across four mining leases. The Mt Olympus Deposit alone contains an estimated 772,000 ounces at 2.53 grams per tonne gold. Kalamazoo is collaborating with DDH1 for diamond drilling and Strike Drilling for RC work, with the goal of elevating inferred resources to an indicated classification.
Why It's Important?
The drilling campaign at the Ashburton Gold Project is crucial for Kalamazoo Resources as it seeks to increase the resource confidence and support the Mt Olympus pre-feasibility study. The project has the potential to significantly boost Kalamazoo's gold production capabilities, especially with the possibility of higher gold prices increasing pre-tax free cash flow from approximately A$747 million to A$1.39 billion. This development could position Kalamazoo as a major player in the gold mining industry, potentially leading to increased investment and economic activity in the region. The discovery of additional significant underground resources further underscores the project's potential as a long-term, regional-scale development prospect.
What's Next?
Kalamazoo Resources plans to continue its drilling efforts with two diamond rigs scheduled to commence in early April 2026. These rigs will expand the drilling capacity and capture critical geological and geotechnical data necessary for the next stage of project development. The company aims to convert inferred resources to higher confidence categories, which could lead to further investment and development opportunities. Stakeholders, including investors and local communities, will be closely monitoring the outcomes of this drilling campaign and its impact on the project's feasibility and profitability.
