What's Happening?
SwitchBot has launched a new line of smart locks, the Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro, which utilize advanced 3D structured-light facial recognition technology. Priced at $170 and $230 respectively, these locks offer a secure and efficient way to unlock
doors. The technology uses 20,000 infrared points to create detailed 3D facial maps, allowing for quick and accurate recognition even when users are wearing glasses, hats, or makeup. The Lock Vision Pro also features palm vein recognition, fingerprint unlocking, and multiple other unlocking methods, including app control and NFC. The lock is powered by a 10,000-mAh rechargeable battery, with a backup CR123A battery for emergencies. All biometric data is stored locally and encrypted, ensuring user privacy.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of SwitchBot's smart locks with facial recognition technology represents a significant advancement in home security. As smart home devices become more integrated into daily life, the demand for secure and convenient access solutions grows. The use of 3D structured-light technology enhances security by preventing spoofing attempts, such as using photos or videos to unlock doors. This innovation not only improves user convenience but also sets a new standard for biometric security in smart home devices. The local storage and encryption of biometric data address privacy concerns, making these locks a compelling option for security-conscious consumers.
