What's Happening?
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has committed $6 million to Nexio Power to support the certification of a propane-powered commercial vehicle platform by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB).
This funding will aid in the development of Class 7 trucks equipped with a 7.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, designed to operate on propane. The platform aims to eliminate the need for diesel exhaust fluid and complex aftertreatment systems, offering significant fuel savings for fleet operators. Nexio is preparing seven trucks for testing and is constructing a manufacturing campus in Lufkin, Texas, with production expected to begin in early 2027.
