What's Happening?
Blumenthal Arts hosted the 2026 Blumey Awards at the Belk Theater, recognizing outstanding high school musical theater talent in the Charlotte region. Weddington High School received the Tier 1 Best Musical award for their production of 'Legally Blonde:
The Musical', while North Lincoln High School was honored with the Tier 2 award for 'Hadestown: Teen Edition'. Individual accolades were also given, with Harold Garcia from North Lincoln winning Best Actor for his portrayal of Orpheus, and Anna Jernigan from Carmel Christian being named Best Actress for her role in 'Footloose'. This year saw a record participation of 59 schools, with awards covering performance, design, direction, and production.
