What's Happening?
Opel has announced the integration of vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology across its electric vehicle lineup, including the Astra, Grandland, Mokka, Corsa, and Combo Electric models. This technology allows drivers to power external devices directly from
the vehicle's battery, providing up to 3.6 kW of output power. The Astra Electric, Astra Sports Tourer Electric, Grandland Electric, and Combo Electric come with an 11 kW three-phase bidirectional on-board charger as standard. The Mokka Electric and the 115 kW version of the Corsa Electric feature a single-phase 7.4 kW unit, with an optional 11 kW charger available. Additionally, Opel offers an Electric All In package for German buyers, including a home wallbox and other benefits.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of V2L technology by Opel represents a significant advancement in the functionality and appeal of electric vehicles. This feature enhances the versatility of EVs, making them more attractive to consumers who value the ability to use their vehicle as a power source. It also positions Opel competitively in the growing EV market by offering innovative solutions that meet consumer needs. The move could influence other automakers to adopt similar technologies, potentially accelerating the adoption of EVs. Furthermore, Opel's Electric All In package could serve as a model for incentivizing EV purchases, promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
