What's Happening?
OPmobility, in collaboration with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and JobsOhio, has announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the greater Toledo area of Ohio. This facility, located in Wood County, marks OPmobility's first
dedicated plant for exterior solutions in the Midwest. The plant is part of the company's strategic expansion in North America, aimed at supporting the growing U.S. mobility market by enhancing industrial capacity and operational agility. The plant is expected to begin production in the second half of 2027 and will focus on producing high-quality exterior systems such as bumpers, grilles, and tailgates. The facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies and is designed for flexibility and future expansion.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of this new plant is significant for both OPmobility and the U.S. automotive industry. It strengthens OPmobility's footprint in the U.S., a region that accounts for over 40% of the country's automotive production. The plant is expected to create more than 500 jobs, contributing to local economic development and reinforcing Ohio's position as a key player in the automotive sector. This move aligns with OPmobility's goal to double its U.S. sales by 2030, reflecting the company's commitment to the U.S. market and its strategic geographical diversification. The investment also highlights Ohio's attractiveness as a hub for automotive manufacturing, supported by its strong workforce and infrastructure.
What's Next?
The construction of the plant is set to begin soon, with production slated to start in the latter half of 2027. OPmobility will continue to work closely with state and local partners, including JobsOhio, to finalize agreements and secure necessary approvals. The company plans to deploy its latest automation and digital manufacturing solutions at the new facility, which will enhance production efficiency and traceability. As the plant becomes operational, it is expected to further solidify OPmobility's presence in the U.S. and support its long-term growth objectives in the region.
