What's Happening?
French engineering firm GTT has received an order from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for the design of cryogenic tanks for five new LNG carriers. These tanks will feature the NO96 Super+ membrane containment system and offer a total capacity of 174,000
m3 each. The vessels are expected to be delivered between 2029 and 2030, enhancing MISC's fleet capabilities. This order underscores GTT's expertise in LNG technology and its role in supporting global energy transportation.
Why It's Important?
The order highlights the ongoing demand for LNG carriers as global energy needs evolve. GTT's advanced tank designs contribute to the efficiency and safety of LNG transportation, a critical component of the energy supply chain. This development supports the growth of LNG as a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The collaboration between GTT and Hudong-Zhonghua also reflects the strategic partnerships necessary to advance maritime technology and infrastructure.
