Meta Platforms has announced 20-year agreements to purchase power from three Vistra nuclear plants located in Ohio and Pennsylvania. This move is part of Meta's strategy to secure long-term electricity
supplies as the demand for power increases due to the expansion of artificial intelligence and data centers. The agreements involve the Perry and Davis-Besse plants in Ohio and the Beaver Valley plant in Pennsylvania. Additionally, Meta is collaborating with Oklo and TerraPower to develop small modular reactors (SMRs), which are expected to be more cost-effective due to factory-based construction. These initiatives are aimed at financing plant expansions and extending their operational lifespan, with some reactors licensed to operate until 2047.
