Resolution Copper, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and BHP, has finalized a significant land exchange with the United States Forest Service (USFS). This exchange is a pivotal step in unlocking one of the world's largest untapped copper deposits. The
agreement involves Resolution Copper transferring over 5,400 acres of environmentally and culturally sensitive land to the USFS, which will be included in National Forests and Conservation Areas. In return, Resolution Copper receives more than 2,400 acres of land adjacent to the historic Magma copper mine in Superior, Arizona. This exchange follows a favorable ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which denied attempts to halt the process. The project is expected to significantly boost Arizona's economy and create thousands of jobs.
