Alabama swimmer Sean Niewold has been recognized as the Southeastern Conference Newcomer of the Year, marking a historic achievement for the Crimson Tide program. Niewold, originally from Rotterdam, Netherlands, completed his first year in college as a two-time
All-American in the 50 free and the 200 medley. He is the first Alabama athlete to break the 45-second barrier in the 100 butterfly and ranks second all-time in Crimson Tide history in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free. Additionally, seven Alabama athletes earned All-SEC team honors, with Tessa Giele, Emily Jones, Charlotte Rosendale, Jada Scott, and Cadence Vincent named to the second team, and Tommy Hagar and Gaby Van Brunt to the third team.
