What's Happening?
The Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Allegiance International Company Limited to develop an Indo-Taiwan Industrial Park in Sanand-Dholera. This initiative is part of Gujarat's efforts to become a semiconductor hub,
aligning with the India Semiconductor Mission. The MoU was signed by Simon Lee, Vice President of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in India, and P Bharathi, Secretary of the Science & Technology Department, Government of Gujarat. The industrial park aims to attract over 1,000 crore in foreign direct investment from Taiwanese industries, particularly in the semiconductor and electronics sectors, and is expected to generate around 12,000 direct employment opportunities over the next five years. The collaboration is intended to strengthen business ties between India and Taiwan, supporting companies in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, robotics, and related supply chains.
