Rivelin Robotics, with support from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), has developed a microfactory technology that automates the manual finishing of 3D printed parts. This innovation allows for faster, cheaper, and more reliable production
of components by using robots with human-like precision. The technology addresses the critical issue of manual finishing, which is often slow, inconsistent, and costly. By automating this process, Rivelin Robotics enhances operational resilience for the UK defense sector, enabling on-demand manufacturing and reducing supply chain dependencies. The microfactories have been sold to five customers and are expanding into various sectors, including aerospace, medical, automotive, and energy, with a growing presence in Europe and the United States.
