What's Happening?
FOX Sports has partnered with Cosm to bring 40 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 to immersive entertainment venues in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta. These venues will feature 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED domes to create a stadium-like atmosphere for
fans unable to attend the matches in person. The coverage will include 11 group stage matches, featuring the United States' games against Paraguay, Türkiye, and Australia, as well as the tournament's opening match between Mexico and South Africa. Cosm will also broadcast the majority of the knockout stages, culminating in the final match live from East Rutherford, NJ.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration offers a unique viewing experience for soccer fans, enhancing accessibility to the World Cup's excitement. By providing an immersive environment, Cosm and FOX Sports aim to replicate the energy of being at the stadium, potentially attracting a broader audience. This initiative could set a precedent for future sports broadcasting, combining technology and live events to engage fans in new ways. The partnership also highlights the growing trend of using advanced technology to enhance sports entertainment.
What's Next?
As the World Cup approaches, fans can anticipate a detailed schedule of matches to be shown at Cosm venues. The success of this initiative could lead to similar collaborations for other major sporting events. Additionally, the performance of teams and players during the World Cup will be closely watched, with potential implications for future tournaments and player careers.
