Niantic Spatial has launched two new products, Scaniverse for businesses and an updated Visual Positioning System (VPS 2.0), to enhance the deployment of AI systems in physical environments. These tools aim to address the lack of accurate, machine-readable
maps, which is a significant limitation in current AI development. Scaniverse allows companies to capture and reconstruct physical environments using consumer devices, generating 3D representations for AI training and deployment. VPS 2.0 offers near centimeter-level accuracy in positioning, functioning effectively in areas where GPS is unreliable. These innovations are part of Niantic Spatial's effort to create a Large Geospatial Model for shared spatial understanding among machines.
