What's Happening?
Vault Strategic Mining has finalized a mineral property purchase agreement to acquire the Mirage-Mariposa Tungsten Mine, part of the Gray Eagle Project in California, and the North Tungsten Project in Nunavik, Quebec. The Gray Eagle Project encompasses
33 unpatented lode claims over approximately 681.8 acres, located about 10 kilometers east of Bishop in the White Mountains. This area is known for tungsten skarn mineralization and hydrothermal vein-style precious metal systems. The Mirage-Mariposa Mine, a past producer of tungsten and silver, is listed in the US Geological Survey’s Mineral Resource Data System. Historical estimates indicate 21,000 tonnes of indicated and 34,400 tonnes of inferred resources, grading 0.15% tungsten trioxide. Vault Strategic Mining plans to apply modern exploration techniques to further define and potentially expand the mineralized zones.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of the Mirage-Mariposa Tungsten Mine is significant for Vault Strategic Mining as it enhances their portfolio of historical mines in the U.S., particularly those with a combination of tungsten and precious metals. Tungsten is a critical mineral with applications in various industries, including electronics and aerospace, making this acquisition strategically valuable. The potential to apply modern exploration techniques could lead to increased resource estimates and future production, contributing to the domestic supply of tungsten. This move aligns with broader efforts to secure critical mineral resources within the U.S., reducing reliance on foreign imports and supporting national economic and security interests.
What's Next?
Vault Strategic Mining plans to engage exploration crews to begin modern exploration at the Mirage-Mariposa site. The company aims to confirm and expand the existing mineralized zones, potentially leading to future mining operations. The staged payment terms of $380,000 and a 2% net smelter return royalty indicate a structured approach to the acquisition, allowing for phased investment and development. The success of these exploration efforts could attract further investment and partnerships, enhancing the company's position in the mining sector.
