What's Happening?
Ubisoft has announced and released a 60FPS upgrade for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition, and Far Cry Primal on Xbox Series X and S. Previously, Far Cry 3 ran at 60FPS on these
consoles through its original Xbox 360 version, but the Classic Edition was limited to 30FPS. The new upgrade allows the Xbox Series X version to run at 1440p and 60FPS, while the Series S version runs at 1080p and 60FPS. This marks the first time Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition is playable at 60FPS on Xbox consoles. Far Cry Primal already supported 60FPS through the Xbox FPS Boost program, but the native upgrade is now available for all three games at no extra cost.
Why It's Important?
The upgrade enhances the gaming experience for Xbox Series X and S users, offering smoother gameplay and improved graphics. This move by Ubisoft reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry to optimize older games for newer hardware, extending their lifespan and appeal. It also highlights the competitive nature of the gaming market, where companies strive to provide value-added services to retain and attract players. The upgrade could potentially increase engagement and sales for Ubisoft, as players may be more inclined to revisit or purchase these enhanced versions.
What's Next?
Players can expect similar upgrades for other popular titles as gaming companies continue to leverage the capabilities of next-gen consoles. Ubisoft and other developers may announce further enhancements or new content for existing games to maintain player interest. Additionally, the gaming community's response to these upgrades could influence future decisions by developers regarding which games to prioritize for similar updates.
