Vistra Corp. is significantly expanding its natural gas infrastructure in Texas to meet the growing energy demands of the state. The company has added approximately 1 GW of new generation capacity from 2020 to 2023 by enhancing its gas-fired fleet and launching new projects. A key initiative includes repowering the coal-fired Coleto Creek Power Plant with natural gas, which is expected to restore about 630 MW of generation to the grid. Additionally, Vistra plans to invest over $1 billion in new natural gas-fired generation capacity in the Permian Basin, aiming to support the state's oil and gas industry.
