Ivanhoe Mines has announced a significant milestone for Africa's largest copper mining complex, the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The complex has successfully shipped copper anodes through the Lobito Corridor,
reaching the Aurubis refinery in Belgium. This marks the first Europe-bound shipment from the complex, where the copper was refined into more than 99.99% pure London Metal Exchange (LME) Grade A copper cathodes. The Lobito Corridor, a rail network connecting the DRC Copperbelt to Angola's Atlantic coast, is seen as a strategic alternative route for Central African minerals to reach global markets.
