Virginia Tech football has successfully secured a commitment from Sam Faniel, a highly regarded tight end from Richmond, Virginia. Faniel, who stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 215 pounds, is a standout player from Benedictine High School. He is ranked as a four-star
recruit by On3 and the 247Sports composite, and a three-star by 247Sports and ESPN. Faniel is considered the 24th-highest tight end in his class and the 10th best recruit in Virginia. His commitment marks the 16th for Virginia Tech's 2027 class, which now ranks 12th nationally according to 247Sports. Faniel had offers from 29 schools, including six other ACC programs, but chose Virginia Tech. He will also participate in the 2027 adidas Polynesian Bowl.
