Firebird Pictures has acquired the rights to adapt Fay Weldon's 1980 novel 'Puffball' into a television series. The adaptation will be penned by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, an Olivier Award-winning playwright known for her work on Netflix's 'Obsession.' 'Puffball' tells
the story of a young London couple, Liffey and Richard, who move to the countryside with hopes of starting a family. Their lives become entangled with their neighbors, Mabs and Tucker, leading to a series of supernatural and dramatic events. The novel was previously adapted into a film in 2007, directed by Nicolas Roeg and starring Kelly Reilly and Donald Sutherland.
