The Florida Panthers have announced a two-year, two-way contract extension with goaltender Cooper Black, which will keep him with the team through the 2027-28 season. Black, a 24-year-old native of Alpena, Michigan, has been a significant presence in
the Panthers' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. During the 2025-26 season, he played 42 regular season games, achieving a 25-13-4 record with a 2.47 goals against average and a .903 save percentage, including one shutout. Over the past three seasons, Black has played 60 career AHL games, maintaining a 36-18-5 record, a 2.37 goals against average, and a .903 save percentage with four shutouts. Before his professional career, Black played for Dartmouth College, where he was a finalist for the Ken Dryden ECAC Goaltender of the Year Award.
