Ann-Renee Desbiens, the goaltender for Montreal Victoire, has been named a finalist for the PWHL Goaltender of the Year award. Desbiens, who won the award last year, is competing against Aerin Frankel
of the Boston Fleet and Gwyneth Philips of the Ottawa Charge. The award recognizes the goaltender with the most outstanding performance during the regular season. Desbiens set single-season PWHL records with a 1.11 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage, and she tied for the league lead with 19 wins in 25 games. She also ranked second with seven shutouts. Frankel, 26, achieved a league-record eight shutouts and tied for 19 wins, finishing with a 1.17 GAA and a .953 save percentage. Philips, 25, set a PWHL record with 28 starts and broke the league record for minutes played, with 786 saves. The winner will be announced on June 16 in Detroit.
