What's Happening?
SolarSquare, an Indian startup specializing in rooftop solar solutions, is in advanced talks to raise $55 million to $60 million in a Series C funding round. The investment, co-led by B Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners, could value the company
at up to $500 million. SolarSquare has powered nearly 50,000 homes and 400 housing societies, focusing on residential solar projects. The company aims to expand its residential solar portfolio to 200 megawatts this year. This funding round follows a previous $40 million Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Why It's Important?
The potential investment in SolarSquare underscores the growing interest in renewable energy solutions, particularly in India's rapidly expanding solar market. As the country aims to achieve 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, companies like SolarSquare are pivotal in driving this transition. The funding will enable SolarSquare to scale its operations and enhance its market position, contributing to India's renewable energy goals. This development also highlights the increasing role of venture capital in supporting sustainable energy initiatives, which could influence global investment trends in the renewable sector.
