What's Happening?
Kering has announced the selection of 10 Chinese designers for its new Creative Residency for Artisanship, Fashion, and Technology (CRAFT) program. This initiative aims to foster creativity and innovation by providing participants with international learning
opportunities in Italy, Paris, and Shanghai. The program will culminate in a final creative project presentation during Shanghai Fashion Week 2027. The selected designers were chosen from over 100 applicants based on criteria such as creativity, craftsmanship, and growth potential. The program is part of Kering's efforts to support emerging talent and promote cultural exchange between China and Europe.
Why It's Important?
This residency program represents a significant investment in the future of fashion, particularly in nurturing Chinese talent. By facilitating cultural exchange and providing mentorship, Kering is helping to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western fashion industries. This initiative not only supports the development of individual designers but also contributes to the evolution of global fashion trends. The program's focus on sustainability and innovation aligns with broader industry shifts towards more responsible and forward-thinking practices. It highlights the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in driving the future of fashion.
