What's Happening?
Three senior athletes from Orange County have qualified for the CIF State track and field championships. Viet Le from Fountain Valley High School excelled in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15 feet, 6 inches at the Southern Section Masters meet,
securing his place in the state competition. Colton Eggleston from Corona del Mar High School qualified in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 6½ inches, overcoming early fouls to earn his spot. Natalie McCarty from Newport Harbor High School qualified in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, achieving a lifetime-best time in the 100-meter event. These athletes will compete in the state championships, which begin with preliminaries on May 29 at Clovis Buchanan High.
