What's Happening?
Fox is revamping the iconic lifeguard drama 'Baywatch' with a new twist by incorporating social media influencers into the cast. Livvy Dunne, a former competitive gymnast and model, has been cast in a recurring role as Grace, a junior lifeguard. This
marks Dunne's professional acting debut following her retirement from gymnastics in April 2025. The reboot, set to air during the 2026-2027 season, will feature Stephen Amell in the lead role of Hobie Buchannon, alongside other notable cast members. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix as the showrunner.
Why It's Important?
The inclusion of social media influencers like Livvy Dunne in traditional television series highlights a shift in casting strategies, aiming to attract younger audiences who follow these personalities online. This move could redefine how networks engage with viewers, potentially increasing viewership through the influencers' substantial online followings. The decision also reflects broader industry trends where digital and traditional media increasingly intersect, impacting how content is produced and consumed.
