Additionally, personal care services such as hair, nails, and makeup have seen a 110% increase since 2000. The cost of flowers, including corsages and boutonnieres, has risen by 8.5% in the past year. These rising costs are tracked by the 'prom index,' created by Jay Zagorsky, a professor at Boston University, which uses Consumer Price Index categories to approximate prom-related expenses.
