What's Happening?
Miles College, a historically Black liberal arts college in Alabama, has partnered with technology companies to launch an initiative aimed at teaching artificial intelligence to high school students in the Birmingham area. The program, supported by StudyFetch
and NVIDIA, will expose up to 750 students to AI technology and workforce development opportunities. The initiative is part of a broader effort to prepare students for the demands of a global economy by building a high school-to-college workforce readiness pipeline. The program includes AI-powered study tools and content from NVIDIA's educational platforms.
Why It's Important?
This initiative addresses the growing need for AI education and workforce readiness, particularly in underserved communities. By providing early exposure to AI technologies, the program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a technology-driven economy. The collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners highlights the importance of bridging the gap between education and emerging career opportunities. This effort could serve as a model for similar programs nationwide, promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry.
