What's Happening?
Peruvian internet service provider MiFibra has implemented ZTE's XGS-PON technology to enhance its fiber broadband services. This upgrade includes ZTE's 10G PON solution, smart cloud platform, and Wi-Fi 6 terminal devices, which collectively improve network
management and operational efficiency. As a result, MiFibra has increased its broadband speeds from 800 Mbps/1 Gbps to 2 Gbps, serving over 20,000 subscribers. The company has also expanded its services to Lima, offering a 5 Gbps package that has attracted more than 5,000 users. This technological advancement supports data-intensive applications and provides scalability for future service upgrades.
Why It's Important?
The deployment of XGS-PON technology by MiFibra represents a significant advancement in Peru's telecommunications infrastructure. By enhancing broadband speeds and expanding service areas, MiFibra is better positioned to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet, particularly for applications like 8K UHD streaming and VR/AR. This development not only benefits consumers by providing faster and more reliable internet access but also strengthens MiFibra's competitive position in the market. Additionally, the use of automated network management tools reduces operational costs and supports sustainable growth.
