Mazda has announced that its CX-5 model has achieved a significant milestone, reaching five million units in production and sales. This achievement makes the CX-5 the third model in Mazda's history to reach such
a figure, following the Mazda 323 in 1986 and the Mazda3 in 2016. The CX-5, introduced in 2011, has been a critical model in Mazda's lineup, particularly in the compact crossover segment. This segment is highly competitive, with models like the Toyota RAV4 consistently ranking among the top-selling vehicles in the U.S. The CX-5 has been sold in over 100 countries and regions worldwide, and a new third-generation model is set to arrive in North America in spring 2026. Despite a 3.3 percent decline in Mazda's U.S. sales in 2025, the CX-5 and CX-50 models posted sales gains, with the CX-5 recording 136,355 units sold, marking a two percent increase.
