The Prada Foundation has announced the first batch of films to receive support from its newly established Fondazione Prada Film Fund. This initiative, launched last year at the Venice Film Festival, aims
to bolster independent cinema globally with a fund of €1.5 million ($1.7 million). The fund has selected 14 projects from over 1,200 submissions, representing 26 countries across five continents. These projects include works from renowned directors such as Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Corneliu Porumboiu. The fund offers support in development, production, and post-production phases, with a maximum grant of €250,000 ($296,000) per project. The initiative is managed by Paolo Moretti and Rebecca De Pas, who emphasize the fund's role in supporting ambitious and experimental independent films.
