Chinwoke Onwuchekwa achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new sophomore class national record in the boys 60 meters at the Texas Tech Wes Kittley High School Classic in Lubbock, Texas. Onwuchekwa completed
the race in 6.60 seconds, which is the fastest time recorded by a high school athlete in nearly seven years. This performance ties with Micah Williams' time from the 2019 New Balance Nationals Indoor. Onwuchekwa's time surpassed the previous sophomore record set by Jeremy Rankin in 2007 by 0.07 seconds. Additionally, Jorden Wells, another sophomore, finished second with a time of 6.66 seconds, also breaking the previous record.
