What's Happening?
The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced the launch of the 17th annual Focus on Missouri Agriculture photo contest. This event invites photographers from across the state to submit images that capture the essence of Missouri agriculture. The contest,
which runs until June 5th, is open to participants of all ages, with categories such as Beauty of the Farm, Faces of the Farmer, Around the Barnyard, Everyday Life, and Kid’s Corner for youth aged 12 and under. Winning photos will be displayed at the 2026 Missouri State Fair, and prizes include Missouri Grown gift baskets and canvas prints.
Why It's Important?
The photo contest serves as a platform to highlight the diverse and vibrant agricultural landscape of Missouri. It encourages community engagement and raises awareness about the state's agricultural heritage. By showcasing the work of local photographers, the contest also promotes the cultural and economic significance of agriculture in Missouri. The involvement of Governor Mike Kehoe and Mrs. Claudia Kehoe in selecting the First Family’s Choice photo underscores the event's importance and the state's commitment to celebrating its agricultural roots.
What's Next?
As the contest progresses, participants will continue to submit their entries, with winners to be announced in early July. The display of winning photos at the Missouri State Fair in August will provide further exposure and recognition for the photographers and the agricultural themes they capture. This event may inspire future initiatives to support and promote agriculture in Missouri, potentially leading to increased public interest and investment in the sector.
