What's Happening?
Disney Branded Television has launched a nationwide search for emerging voice actors, focusing on animation. The initiative, known as the Disney Branded Television Discovers Voice Talent Search, aims to provide participants with hands-on experience in voice performance,
character development, and collaborative storytelling. Ten selected voice actors will participate in a free, weeklong workshop at Disney Television Animation studios in Glendale, California. During this workshop, participants will work alongside experienced casting and creative executives. The program will culminate in the creation of an original, 11-minute animated short that will debut on Disney platforms. Submissions are open from March 31 to April 14 for U.S. residents aged 18 and older with strong skills in comedy, music, and improv.
Why It's Important?
This initiative by Disney Branded Television is significant as it reflects the company's commitment to discovering and nurturing new talent in the animation industry. By providing a platform for emerging voice actors, Disney is ensuring a continuous influx of fresh voices that can contribute to its storytelling legacy. This search not only supports the development of individual careers but also enriches the diversity and creativity of Disney's content. The program's focus on hands-on experience and collaboration with industry professionals offers participants a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights and skills, potentially leading to future employment and contributions to Disney's animated projects.
What's Next?
Following the workshop, the selected voice actors will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in the creation of an animated short. This project will serve as a proof-of-concept, with the best performances featured in a fully produced shorts variety special. This exposure could lead to further opportunities within Disney and the broader animation industry. Additionally, the initiative may inspire other entertainment companies to adopt similar talent discovery programs, fostering a more dynamic and inclusive industry landscape.
