The festival lineup, which includes other classics like 'My Neighbor Totoro' and 'Spirited Away,' underscores the studio's significant role in the global animation industry. By bringing these films back to theaters, the festival fosters appreciation for traditional animation techniques and storytelling, potentially influencing future generations of filmmakers and animators. Additionally, the event may boost local economies by attracting audiences to theaters, contributing to the revival of cinema attendance post-pandemic.
