The Fiesta Bowl has introduced a new standard for women's flag football by hosting an inaugural 8-team tournament at Arizona State University. This event, known as the Fiesta Bowl Flag Football Classic,
featured teams from various universities including Arizona State, Alabama State, Georgia, UCF, Florida, Grand Canyon, Charlotte, and USC. The tournament concluded with UCF defeating Florida 19-7 to claim the title. The event was well-received, with approximately 1,500 spectators attending and the final match being broadcast on ESPNU. The tournament is part of a broader movement to increase the visibility and participation of women's flag football at the collegiate level, with the sport also set to feature in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
