What's Happening?
The Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce has been honored by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) for its outstanding communication efforts, specifically for its website, SciotoValleyForward.com. This recognition comes as part of the ACCE's
Communications Award of Excellence, which highlights exemplary communication and marketing work by chambers of commerce. The website was developed following the announcement of a paper mill closure in Chillicothe, aiming to engage the community and elevate local priorities. Mike Throne, the chamber's president and CEO, credited Gracie McAllister, a former intern, for her significant contribution to the site's creative design, and acknowledged the Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation for its financial support. The chamber is now set to compete for the Best in Show title at the ACCE's annual convention in New Orleans on July 21.
Why It's Important?
This recognition underscores the critical role of effective communication in supporting local economies and communities, especially in times of economic transition. The Chillicothe Ross Chamber's award-winning website serves as a model for how chambers can leverage digital platforms to engage members and address community challenges. By highlighting successful communication strategies, the ACCE awards encourage other chambers to adopt innovative approaches to storytelling and community engagement. This can lead to stronger local economies and more resilient communities, as chambers play a pivotal role in economic development and advocacy.
