What's Happening?
Power Integrations, a leader in high-voltage integrated circuits, has unveiled two new ultra-slim auxiliary power supply reference designs optimized for NVIDIA Kyber 800 VDC AI data centers. These designs, showcased at COMPUTEX, are compact and efficient,
with the single-output design measuring 30 mm by 30 mm and the isolated six-rail design measuring 80 mm by 60 mm. The designs aim to free up approximately 30 percent space on main power distribution boards and reduce the bill of materials count by 30 percent, enhancing reliability and efficiency. The designs utilize PowiGaN technology, achieving at least 88 percent efficiency across line and load.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of these compact power supply units is significant for the AI data center industry, as they offer a space-saving solution that enhances efficiency and reliability. By reducing the bill of materials count and freeing up space, these designs can lower operational costs and improve system performance. This development is crucial for companies looking to optimize their data center operations and reduce energy consumption, aligning with broader industry trends towards sustainability and efficiency.
What's Next?
Power Integrations plans to make these designs available for download, allowing companies to integrate them into their data center operations. As AI data centers continue to expand, the demand for efficient and compact power solutions is likely to grow. Companies may explore further innovations in power supply technology to meet the increasing energy demands of AI applications.
