What's Happening?
X-Bow Systems has secured a $12.2 million contract with AEVEX to manufacture rocket-assisted take-off (RATO) kits for the AEVEX Disruptor drone. The contract involves the supply of hundreds of RATO production kits and thousands of solid rocket motors
and components, with deliveries scheduled from March to August 2026. The RATO system, developed by X-Bow, includes solid rocket motors and launch cradles, enabling drone launches from unprepared surfaces. This contract marks the first large-scale use of X-Bow's patented Additive Manufactured Solid Propellant in its SRMs.
Why It's Important?
The contract with AEVEX highlights X-Bow's capability to rapidly deliver defense technologies, addressing the growing demand for systems that can operate in challenging environments. The use of X-Bow's proprietary manufacturing methods allows for quicker delivery, potentially increasing drone payload and range. This development is crucial as global military drone markets continue to expand, with rising demand for systems that can launch in difficult conditions. The contract also validates X-Bow's ability to meet urgent defense needs, enhancing its position in the defense industry.
What's Next?
X-Bow plans to broaden its product range, focusing on technologies in hypersonic propulsion, advanced missile defense, and sub-orbital space launch systems. The company aims to bring products to operational use within months rather than years, leveraging its proprietary manufacturing methods. This strategy positions X-Bow to meet emerging operational requirements and expand its presence in the defense market.
