What's Happening?
The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society has announced the selection of 12 films for the work-in-progress section of the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF). Among the selected filmmakers are Indonesia's Yosep Anggi Noen, the Philippines' Arvin Belarmino, and Hong Kong's Norris Wong. These projects, which are mostly in post-production, include a mix of debut features and established filmmakers' works. Notable projects include 'The Sea Speaks His Name' by Yosep Anggi Noen, a political drama set in the 1990s, and 'Good Trip' by Norris Wong, a comedy-drama about a film production assistant. The selected films will be presented at HAF from March 17-19, alongside the Filmart event.
Why It's Important?
The selection of these films for HAF's work-in-progress
section highlights the diversity and creativity in Asian cinema. It provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase their projects to potential investors and distributors, which is crucial for securing the necessary funding and support to complete their films. This event also fosters cross-cultural collaboration and exchange, contributing to the global film industry's growth. For the filmmakers, being part of HAF can significantly enhance their visibility and open up opportunities for international recognition and distribution.
