The University of Texas at Austin has been selected to spearhead a national initiative aimed at expanding the semiconductor workforce across the southern United States. This effort, known as the National Network for Microelectronics Education South, involves
over 100 organizations across 10 states. The initiative seeks to address the growing demand for skilled workers in the semiconductor industry, which is expected to add 115,000 jobs by 2030. UT Austin's program will focus on connecting students, veterans, and career changers with training and hands-on experience needed by employers.
